Beachwood endangered site gets national attention

July 27, 2009

Beachwood_circleThe  devastating June fire that has endangered the beloved Circle Inn in the Ocean County town of Beachwood recently caught the attention of the National Trust’s online magazine.  And the Beachwood Historical Alliance‘s director, Erik Weber, has taken that national media coverage, along with lots of attention and support from current and former Beachwood residents, to help raise awareness and support for preservation in the historic Jersey Shore town.   The 29-year-old writer, filmmaker and local history maven has collected terrific stories, developed working relationships with elected officials and civic leaders, spoken out about Beachwood’s preservation challenges and opportunities, and helped lead a young but active and growing preservation organization that is making a difference in Beachwood.

How did Erik and his colleagues get this effective and influential preservation advocacy group started?  E-mail them at
