Hightstown to start streetscape project in historic district with TE funding

July 30, 2010

The Hightstown streetscape project seeks to restore the district's sidewalks to an eclectic mix of brick and slate with a granite curb.

Hightstown, New Jersey was recently awarded $1.69 million in federal Transportation Enhancement grant funding for their Stockton Street Historic District Streetscape Infrastructure Project.  The National Transportation Enhancement website has chosen to profile this project as a premier example of the use of TE funds for historic preservation.  The project begins construction in August 2010.  Click here to view the story in pictures about the Hightstown historic district’s restoration and preservation project.

Congratulations to the preservation advocates in Hightstown who’ve worked hard for this terrific project.
